Moms can be sexy too, ya know! – Ottawa Boudoir Photography

At je m’adore fine art portraits in Ottawa, we believe that everyone deserves to have a fabulous portrait of themselves. Miss S came to the studio with a mission. She wanted to give her husband a birthday present like no other! And we delivered. Most often women book a boudoir session with the intent of giving their partner a gift for their birthday, anniversary, Christmas/Valentine’s gift, but in the end they soon realize that it was a gift for themselves first and foremost! I know as a mom, we sometimes need a little reminder that we are women and we still have a sensual and sexual existence. Miss S is a mother of THREE small children. Read below as Miss S reflects on her boudoir session with us in this interview:

Q: What’s going on in your life right now that motivated you to do a session?
Miss S:  My husband’s 40th birthday was coming up and I wanted to do something really special. I also wanted to do something for myself while I was still in shape!

Q: Besides beautiful photographs, what else did you hope to get out of the experience?
Miss S:  I wanted to get a bit of a confidence boost. Being a mom of three it’s not often you’re looking sexy with your hair and makeup done. It was a nice reminded of what I used to look like when I was a bit younger. It felt great.

Q: How long had you been considering doing a shoot before you booked yours? What was the final push? What did it feel like to finally book your session?
Miss S:  Not long at all. Once I had the idea I knew it would be the perfect gift for my husband. I was nervous to book the sessions but you were super thorough and calming so it just became something to look forward to!

Q: Before your session, how would you describe your relationship with your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss S:  I try to exercise and stay healthy so I think that helps me have a pretty good relationship with my body. I think also I’m just lucky in some aspects (ie. metabolism). Sensuality on the other hand is a bit foreign. This photoshoot was waaaay out of my comfort zone!

Q: How did doing a session affect how you feel about your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss S:  It really gave me a great boost in confidence. The photos were so beautiful and made me realize how sexy I can be. It was 100% a positive experience!!!

Q: What were you worried about before your session? What helped to overcome that?
Miss S:  I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to relax and that the photos would look stiff and awkward. I was also worried that it would be an uncomfortable session that wouldn’t ultimately look good.

Q: Tell me about your session day: How did you feel on your way over? What were your favorite parts? How did you feel on the way home?
Miss S:  I was pretty nervous on the way over but also excited for the experience. My favorite parts were the hair and makeup transformation and getting to see a few photos on the camera during the shoot – very encouraging!

Q: What were you feeling when you saw your photos at the viewing?
Miss S:  I was really shocked at how beautiful they were. You did an amazing job capturing the look I was going for. I was really really happy with them!!!

Q: Why did you decide to hire me as your photographer?
Miss S:  The photos on your website were very much what I was going for and I really liked your style. When we met you were really good at putting me at ease. You were super positive and encouraging which really helped.

Q: If your friend were considering doing a shoot, what would you say to encourage her?
Miss S:  I would tell her to do it!! It’s a wonderful, positive experience that makes you feel like a million bucks. I would even do it again myself!!
