Stepping Outside Her Comfort Zone

As an Ottawa Boudoir Photographer, I meet many different women from all ages and at different stages in their lives. Meet Miss B! She has had a love/hate relationship with her body all her life and decided it was time for a change: in mindset and in taking care of herself. She came to Je m’adore fine art portraits to help kickstart her journey into empowerment and embracing who she is as a woman. Here is her story:

Q: What’s going on in your life right now that motivated you to do a session?
Miss B: I always felt uncomfortable with my own body. I wanted to do something that would allow me.

Q: Besides beautiful photographs, what else did you hope to get out of the experience?
Miss B: Having fun and learn how to know myself…. something that is very hard for me sometime!

Q: How long had you been considering doing a shoot before you booked yours? What was the final push? What did it feel like to finally book your session?
Miss B: I think a year between the moment I started to do my research about boudoir photography and the moment I booked my session. It was mostly something for myself but for my spouse too (to add some sparks a little bit)!

Q: Before your session, how would you describe your relationship with your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss B: Being teased during my school years and having a love/hate relationship with my body. I was never someone to take care of myself. But now at 41, I started to think about myself, taking care a little bit more of my body. It’s not easy but I will succeed.

Q: How did doing a session affect how you feel about your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss B:  I never thought I could see myself as pretty or smile for a photographer. I tried not to be too self conscious about my body during the photoshoot.

Q: What were you worried about before your session? What helped to overcome that?
Miss B:  Not being able to pose or smile. But Suzanne was there to help me during the photoshoot and she made me laugh to get some smiles.

Q: Tell me about your session day: How did you feel on your way over? What were your favorite parts? How did you feel on the way home?
Miss B: Nervous is not even the word. But after a few minutes with the make-up artist, I started to feel better but not confident yet. After the first pictures were taken, I felt better and did not realize that the photoshoot was already over. Two hours went fast!

Q: What were you feeling when you saw your photos at the viewing?
Miss B: Again, nervous but when I saw the first few pictures, I could not believe the results. I’m very happy with the results and I thought that doing the photoshoot was the hard part: nope! It’s to choose between the pictures and narrow down the numbers. That shows how good Suzanne is at making you feel comfortable, confident and feel pretty!

Q: Why did you decide to hire me as your photographer?
Miss B: After doing my research on boudoir photography in the area, I choose Suzanne because of her portfolio, the way she explained everything to me during the consultation and how she makes you feel at ease. And having a woman photographer was important to me.

Q: If your friend were considering doing a shoot, what would you say to encourage her?
Miss B: JUST DO IT!! Suzanne is excellent in what she does and you’ll have such a good time and having fun with her. The service is excellent and the final product is UNBELIEVABLE!!!
