“Now would be a great time to finally celebrate myself” — Ottawa Boudoir Photographer

As an Ottawa Boudoir Photographer, I meet many different women from all ages and at different stages in their lives.  One of the things I never understood about society was why women are expected to deny their sexuality when they enter into motherhood. They are expected to carry forth the label of “Mom” and sacrifice their sensual and sexual sides. I call that BS — especially since there is NO equivalent for men. Another challenge with motherhood is the battle to accept our changing bodies whether we’ve had one, two or multiple births. Some women bounce back, some do not. But the majority of the ones that do bounce back have to work HARD!

Meet Miss M! She thought about doing a boudoir session before getting married 10 years ago but “never pulled the trigger”. After two children, and working damn hard to lose the baby weight from both pregnancies, she decided a celebration was called for — a celebration of herself!

Q: What’s going on in your life right now that motivated you to do a session?
Miss M:  After our second child, I worked hard to get my body back. We were considering trying for a third, so i thought now would be a great time to finally celebrate myself.

Q: Besides beautiful photographs, what else did you hope to get out of the experience?
Miss M:   I hoped to feel confident and sexy, and revive that part of me that is all too often hidden behind mom sweats and a pony tail.

Q: How long had you been considering doing a shoot before you booked yours? What was the final push? What did it feel like to finally book your session?
Miss M:  Before getting married, almost 10 yrs ago, i wanted to do boudoir, but never pulled the trigger. It was a friend who recently did a session and suggested i do it that got me thinking about it again. I was hesitant about the investment, the prep that goes into the process, and nervous I wouldn’t get the outcome I wanted, but it was my husband who gave me that final push and told me to go for it.

Q: Before your session, how would you describe your relationship with your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss M:  My relationship with my body has always been a tense one. I think like many women, i often feel less beautiful and sensual than i should.

Q: How did doing a session affect how you feel about your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss M:  The session gave me an incredible boost of self-confidence, appreciation, and love for my body. Honestly didn’t know it was possible!

Q: What were you worried about before your session? What helped to overcome that?
Miss M:  I was worried I would get the pictures and see all my flaws, or that I wouldn’t look as beautiful as I felt in my head.

Q: Tell me about your session day: How did you feel on your way over? What were your favorite parts? How did you feel on the way home?
Miss M:  Session day was just fun. I was a little nervous, but mostly excited to have a day to myself to do something just for me. I loved that it was stress-free in that hair and makeup was taken care of at the session and the day progressed easily. I felt like a model, and that was my favourite part. I felt REJUVENATED and full of self-confidence on the way home 🙂

Q: What were you feeling when you saw your photos at the viewing?
Miss M:  I think impressed and completely validated would be the best way to describe it. My husband’s jaw was on the floor the entire time…he told me on the way home it’s the BEST MONEY we’ve spent all year!! haha.

Q: Why did you decide to hire me as your photographer?
Miss M:  I chose Suzanne based on her online reviews. I knew if I was going to do boudoir, it had to be done right – with the BEST!

Q: If your friend were considering doing a shoot, what would you say to encourage her?
Miss M:   I’ve been telling all my friends they need to do it AT LEAST once in their life!

AGE: 30’s
