As an Ottawa boudoir photographer, I have the privilege and pleasure of meeting many incredible women — some celebrating major milestone birthdays, others celebrating some firsts. Miss M came to je m’adore fine art portraits wanting to create a calendar for her husband but ended up with a lot more!
Read more about her experience:
Q: What’s going on in your life right now that motivated you to do a session?
Miss M: It was a birthday present to myself. I had always wanted to do a boudoir session but am not comfortable with my body image. When i saw that pin up sessions were available, I was thrilled! A long time wish fulfilled.
Q: Besides beautiful photographs, what else did you hope to get out of the experience?
Miss M: I just wanted to have a fun experience, enjoy the day from hair and makeup to photos. I wanted to gain a small boost of confidence as well.
Q: How long had you been considering doing a shoot before you booked yours? What was the final push? What did it feel like to finally book your session?
Miss M: I had wanted to do a session for 5 plus years. The final push was when (my friend) added me to your VIP Group and I saw pinup sessions were an option. I instantly fell in love and booked it.
Q: Before your session, how would you describe your relationship with your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss M: There is no relationship. I am not happy nor comfortable with my body.
Q: How did doing a session affect how you feel about your body, your beauty and your sensuality?
Miss M: I am still not 100% comfortable with my body image, however when I look at my photos I smile and am very proud to see my curves showcased in such a beautiful way. I’m glad I get to look at my calendar everyday!
Q: What were you worried about before your session? What helped to overcome that?
Miss M: Being too nervous and that I would look stiff in my photos. What helped overcome that? You!! You made me feel comfortable and relaxed, and allowed me to have fun during the shoot.
Q: Tell me about your session day: How did you feel on your way over? What were your favorite parts? How did you feel on the way home?
Miss M: I was nervous on my drive to Ottawa, anxious and excited. After hair and makeup I was excited and started to feel like a million bucks. Once I put on the first outfit I was floored!! It all came together in a ‘WOW’ moment. I was instantly excited and felt amazing.
Q: What were you feeling when you saw your photos at the viewing?
Miss M: Overwhelmed! That was a lot of ME (LOL). When I saw the little video at the beginning I wanted to cry. I was so excited. I couldn’t believe how amazing the photos were and how beautiful they turned out.
Q: Why did you decide to hire me as your photographer?
Miss M: (My friend) spoke so highly of her experience with you and your gallery online spoke for itself. I just felt like it would be the perfect fit.
Q: If your friend were considering doing a shoot, what would you say to encourage her?
Miss M: DO IT!!! It was an amazing experience. From beginning to end, it was enjoyable, memorable and the biggest take away is feeling like a superstar!!
